Since the economy in rural New York has always been depressed, there are many unscrupulous people who will take advantage of any prolonged absence from a dwelling. Be prepared for mass destruction as well. It is difficult to ascertain who the culprits are, as such offences never seem to be solved by the local police unless someone is caught red handed, but the mindless nature of such offences leads one to believe they are often the handiwork of local youth. So, while your neighbors are for the most part, friendly enough, they seem not to be aware of what their children are up to.
